Have you ever heard of the Waitomo glowworm caves? On the North Island of New Zealand, glowworms living on the roof of the cave drop sticky threads from their bioluminescent tails, which glow brighter when the larva is hungry! When aquatic insects that hatch from the stream fly toward the light, they become tangled in the lines. Like an angler feeling a tug, the glowworm then reels in and eats its catch!

💡Explore the extraordinary organisms that blink, glow, flash, and glitter in the upcoming special exhibition Creatures of Light, opening on June 2! Learn more with the #linkinbio.
